Let Them Look

I hope you all are doing well and have started the new year off on a great note! For this blogpost, I wanted to address the idea that it's okay to be creative. Wearing outfits out of societal norms can be uncomfortable and can attract a few looks here and there, but sometimes this can be a good thing if you do it right.

I've decided that my key to happiness this year, especially regarding my style, is to take in all judgement and looks, because at the end of the day most people are actually intrigued at the daringness of what I chose to wear. I feel that if one person has the courage to wear what they want, others will follow along and cause that ripple effect rather than keeping those laboring ties in conserving conventional wardrobes seen as "most fit" by the people that surround you.

Here, I wore a purple and cream checkered bishop sleeved top accompanied with an ivory corset top. Since the top was the main statement of the fit, I arranged to wear it with the knee cut skinny jeans and an everyday pair of black booties. To maintain the aesthetic of keeping it as simple as possible for the top to stand out, I remained minimalistic with my accessories. For earrings, just a simple rose gold chain metal and jewel, and I wore a delicate necklace for extra activity. The reason behind keeping such a minimal approach in context of accessorizing was again, so that it wouldn't steal from the main article. Now I know some of you might be thinking that corsets are out and that i'm out of my mind. Truth is that they've actually made a comeback in this past year and a half. Many celebrities have been embracing the whole petite waistline and have also paired their corsets with simple dresses or wearing it alone with jeans/trousers. More popular than the corsets themselves are the corset belts that are really beginning to appear in towering demand throughout high fashion companies such as Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and Balmain.
